	Every year since 1992, towards the end of the Summer, the well known Festival of Street Artists takes place in the streets and squares of the old town of Vevey. Since 1996, this festival has been organised by the association of the friends of the Festival, a voluntary group consisting mostly of shopkeepers of the old town.

For three days, street artists from all over the world stage several performances of their acts throughout the "four corners" of the old town, as well as in the tent erected for the occasion on the Place Scanavin. The artists are not paid but they pass their hat around at the end of each performance. There is always a great variety of acts, including mime artists, theatrical shows, jugglers, tightrope walkers, fire-eaters, musicians, clowns, etc.

The artists who have registered take part in a competition whereby each year a jury awards four "cobblestones", a golden one worth Sfr. 1000,-, a silver one, worth Sfr. 800,-, and a bronze one worth Sfr. 500,-.The public also has a say in the awards, as it designates the winner of the special prize of Sfr. 500,- offered by the Friends of the Festival.

This is an open invitation to everyone to come and enjoy yourself during the two days of the forthcoming Festival of Street Artists in Vevey.
